“Blessed be the Lord, my Rock!

Psalm 143(144):1-2,9-10

The first part of this psalm comprises verses from other Psalms. It is a prayer for the king on his way to battle. There are moments in our lives when we face a challenge or a battle. Often, the battle can be within our own selves, of our conflicting desires. We can have a part of ourselves that wants to follow Christ and a part that does not.

The psalms often refer to God as the rock. In other words, it is the one who is unchanging, solid, and secure. Because of his constant Love, we can go to battle assured that we can count on his protection and shield. What are the battles you are facing at this time? How is God your rock, your fortress, and your shield?
