“Christ humbled himself but God raised him high.”

Philippians 2:5-11

The world tells us that status and selfishness are the most important thing. “Look after Number 1!”, which is ourselves. St Paul tells us the opposite – in our relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. He is the King of the universe, equal with God our Father, but He took on the nature of a servant. Then He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross! It is like us giving up our humanity to become an ant!
We can reflect on our relationships during our day. When do we have opportunities to be humble and to serve others? We are called to humbly serve with the intention of giving glory to God our Father, not out of guilt or because we lack self-confidence. Jesus, please help us to use You as our model, so that every tongue in heaven and on earth will acknowledge that you are Lord, so that our Father will raise us up to join you as your disciple in Heaven.
