Sunday 13th of October

“The word of God cuts more finely than a double-edged sword.”

Hebrews 4:12-13

Today, we are invited to reflect on the gift and power of the Word of God. For us, the Verbum Dei community, the Word holds an essential place in our spirituality because it is through the Word of God that God speaks to us. Anyone whom the Word of God has touched will know that the Word of God is living in active sharper than any two-edged sword and has the power to touch, heal, restore, and transform us. That’s why when we pray with the Word of God, we never leave prayer the same.

However, it can sometimes happen to us that we can treat the word of God as mealy, empty words or a storybook. Today, we need to ask Jesus for grace, humility, and openness to allow God’s word to speak deeply to our hearts, revealing truths about ourselves, others and the world. When we pray with the Word, do we allow His Word to bring light to all the aspects of ourselves so that we can be and live as God desires? Do we give enough time to daily prayer with the Word of God?
